Si les cuento que el protagonista Takata (Ken Takakura) es un hombre taciturno, solitario, que desde hace años está enemistado con su hijo y, tras enterarse de una terrible enfermedad que éste padece, decide ser el hacedor de su sueño pendiente o al menos ése era el plan, probablemente piensen que están frente a algún telefilm de bajo presupuesto o unitario de TV que bien podría verse en el Hallmark Channel.
Pero no. Se trata de la anteúltima película de Zhang Yimou que en Argentina fue directamente a DVD (su última producción La maldición de la flor dorada debería estrenarse en las próximas semanas).
Lo que van a encontrar en este título es la historia de Padres vs. Hijos contada miles de veces, pero condimentada con un viaje de un japonés a China. Aquí el protagonista deberá lidiar con la burocracia del gran país asiático y sobre todo con su total desconocimiento del idioma. (Si alguien buscaba una historia sobre la incomunicación…)
Con Un largo y doloroso camino (vaya título), Yimou evita las superproducciones a las que últimamente nos tiene acostumbrados y, salvo por algún que otro magnífico plano de Yunnan, el film carece incluso de la grandeza visual y colorida de sus dos películas anteriores.
Película no apta para festejar el Día del Padre y mucho menos para personas de lágrima fácil. A menos que les guste llorar.
